American Idol’s Top 11

American Idol’s finalists tackled 11 of Billboard’s No. 1 hits Tuesday, a vague theme that allowed for just about anything. Lee DeWyze started strong, honoring the late Alex Chilton with the Box Tops’ The Letter. The judges raved when Crystal Bowersox channeled Janis Joplin for Me and Bobby McGee (the night’s obvious song choice). Save for Simon Cowell, they also praised Siobhan Magnus’ show-closing Superstition. Beyond that, though, they couldn’t find much to get excited about.

Paige Miles and Tim Urban had two of the season’s worst performances with Against All Odds and Crazy Little Thing Called Love, respectively. If fans stepped up their voting to save them, some of the evening’s mediocre performers — Katie Stevens, Andrew Garcia and Didi Benami — could find themselves in the cross hairs Wednesday.

Here are my rankings:

  1. Crystal Bowersox, Me and Bobby McGee
  2. Lee DeWyze, The Letter
  3. Michael Lynche, When a Man Loves a Woman
  4. Siobhan Magnus, Superstition
  5. Casey James, The Power of Love
  6. Aaron Kelly, I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing
  7. Didi Benami, You’re No Good
  8. Andrew Garcia, I Heard It Through the Grapevine
  9. Katie Stevens, Big Girls Don’t Cry
  10. Tim Urban, Crazy Little Thing Called Love
  11. Paige Miles, Against All Odds

Now, now, now… I mostly agree with those rankings but check past the READ ME for more details!
